In 1938 the first zippered backpack was created in Boulder, Colorado, and in the late 1940’s kids started carrying backpacks to school.   This year, because of Operation Backpack, supported by Chapel Hill, the 700 students that attend Colvin Elementary School in Planeview will receive a brand new backpack with the supplies listed below.

150 sheets wide ruled notebook paper
-check out Psalm 150 (Praise to God and God’s many mercies).
70 sheet spiral notebook
-to forgive 70 x 7 is to begin to understand the infinite forgiveness of God.
24 no. 2 pencils
-consider the Old and New Testaments—which one speaks to you today?
24 crayons
-in the Bible 24 is associated with priesthood (a calling to serve God in a special way)—what call does God have on your life?
12 colored pencils
-the 12 disciples brought a variety of experiences and spiritual gifts to their walk with Jesus.
10 colored markers
-the 10 commandments—how can we be obedient to God in a new school year?
2 glue sticks
-Stick to it—God is with you and for you!
2 dry erase markers
-Imagine and try, try again—the first answer isn’t always the best.
1 pencil box
-1 unique and spectacular you—created for good work and loved forever.
