Hello Chapel Hill Families!
Celebrate Wonder is a Sunday school curriculum that engages children’s natural sense of curiosity to help them understand God’s love. It creates a safe environment for kids to ask big questions — helping them explore the Bible in ways that feed their imagination and encourages creativity. Through carefully-selected Bible stories, songs, videos, and hands-on activities, Celebrate Wonder gives children the tools to explore their faith while incorporating it into their daily lives.

October kits have been mailed out to those who have registered for them. If you didn’t get signed up, but would like to participate, I have attached digital copies of the material for you to print at home.
Due to a shipping issue, we have 25 extra family activity books we received. If your family would like one, they are FREE and available in the church office during office hours Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
I will also continue to attach digital copies of the material to our weekly e-news for you to print at home if you would prefer that option
This month, our Faith Word is “Faith”.
All the Bible stories will align with the Faith Word each month. Here is the Faith Word Poster for the month of October:

Our Memory Verse Poster for October:

Beauty is everywhere in God’s creation. Beauty is in the people we meet. It is in the world we see and the sounds we hear. As a family, look for and explore God’s beauty in all of its forms. I will be collecting pictures of God’s beauty for our October Wonder Wall collage, If you have a chance to snap a picture of something beautiful God created, send it my way so I can include it! aroth@chapelhillwichita.org

Genesis 12:1-9 begins our introduction to the story of Abraham. Abraham is old and is asked by God to take a journey. Abraham does not speak in this passage, but God does. This story continues God’s promises to the Israel’s ancestors, including Abraham. God’s promise is a blessing. God will bless Abraham and all of his descendants.
In this passage we hear a story of Abraham and his wife, Sarah, accepting God’s call and taking all their things to a new land. They travel through major urban areas in the Canaanite mountains. This area will be the homeland of Israel.
Abraham and Sarah’s journey could not have been easy. It was likely very hard. But their willingness to follow God, demonstrates their great faith and hope in the future that God promises them.
Children can sometimes have this kind of faith. Children are often filled with hope, and their eagerness can be inspiring. This lesson can help children explore what their faith can be and, as adults, we can learn a lot by paying close attention to a child’s hope-filled faith. Such faith can remind us of Abraham and Sarah, and also serves as a reminder that we too can embrace faith in God’s blessings and promises.

This week pay attention. When you are feeling anxious, nervous, or overwhelmed, stop and notice. This can be done by refocusing your attention to the small things around you. When you need to change your focus, begin by naming things around you, three things you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel. You can do this anytime that you need to slow down. This practice helps re-center our daily life so that we can begin to focus on the bigger things at hand such as teaching children and being a faithful follower of God.

Attached is the lesson plan for Sunday, October 6th There are simplified activities that require minimal supplies that you can usually find at home.
