Hello Chapel Hill Families!
How is it going? Are you on top of doing Sunday School activities and spiritual practices with your kids? Are you playing catch up or really behind? It. Is. OK… Wherever you are in the lessons whether you are a few behind or you haven’t started. It is OK. Being a parent is hard. This year has been crazy. My goal is to give you the resources so that when you are ready, you will have everything you need to share God’s love with your kids through these videos and lessons. For the season of Lent, my personal goal is to do better about doing these lessons more consistently with my own kids at home to help get these stories into their hearts so that they will always remember how good Jesus is and how much God loves us. Will you join me?
The rest of the lessons this month include:
- March 14th – “The Last Supper” (Luke 22:14-20)
- March 21st – “Praying in the Garden” (Luke 22:39-46)
- March 28th – “Jesus Enters Jerusalem” (Matthew 21:1-11)
If your child would like to be featured in one of these videos, please let me know! I can be flexible with days and times so let me know what works best for your family. I am now in search of children to assist with these March lessons.
I always love seeing the kids participating in Sunday School activities! If you take any pictures or videos of your children worshipping or doing the crafts, please share them with our Facebook group, or e-mail them to me at aroth@chwichita.org.

BACK TO CHURCH
Did you hear? We are planning on returning to in-person church services on Sunday, April 18th. We had enough people respond to our initial survey to plan for both a 9:30 and 11:00 service. There will not be any Nursery or Sunday School for children at this time, but that is the next phase as COVID data continues to decline, and I am so eager to have CH Kids back in the children’s wing! I will have extra activity bags for the kids to help keep them busy during the service, and I am working with Pastor Jeff on making some family friendly options. Stay tuned for more info!

Vacation Bible School 2021 “Discovery on Adventure Island”

Join us for “Discovery on Adventure Island” VBS at Chapel Hill! We are so excited to gather together for this event this year. Child spaces will be limited to 200 and we will make some other adjustments due to the pandemic, but it is sure to be another great year of FUN learning and worshipping together! We have purchased materials that can be easily used in an online format if numbers show that it is not wise to meet in person. Children of volunteers will be the first to register. If you would like to join our team, please click on the image below to sign-up!

Celebrate Wonder is a Sunday school curriculum that engages children’s natural sense of curiosity to help them understand God’s love. It creates a safe environment for kids to ask big questions — helping them explore the Bible in ways that feed their imagination and encourages creativity. Through carefully-selected Bible stories, songs, videos, and hands-on activities, Celebrate Wonder gives children the tools to explore their faith while incorporating it into their daily lives.
Since we are not able to meet in person, I have been mailing Sunday School Kits to families each month with printed lesson plans, activity sheets and craft supplies. If you would like to be added to our mailing list for April, please sign up by clicking the button below. I will also continue to attach digital copies of the material to our weekly e- news for you to print at home if you prefer that option, or missed the deadline.
March Faith Word

Each month, our weekly stories will align with a Faith Word. The Faith Word for the month of March is, “Remember”.
March Memory Verse

Bible Story Preview
The Passover meal was celebrated each year to mark the Israelites’ escape from slavery in Egypt. Jesus and his disciples would have observed Passover many times throughout their lives. This year the Passover meal with Jesus would be different from others, but they did not know that. On this Passover, Jesus used the Passover meal to begin a ritual that is still practiced by Christians around the world. We call it the sacrament of Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper, the Eucharist, or the Last Supper.
The disciples, or the friends of Jesus, often had a hard time understanding and remembering things Jesus told them. Jesus wanted to give them a way to remember him and not forget the things he taught them. Jesus spelled it out for them, so they would not forget, by saying, “Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19c). The bread and cup were normally on the table during meals in Bible times. Jesus used the bread and the cup, everyday items, to remind them of his body (the bread) and his blood (the cup), given for us. They have become symbols of God’s love in Christian churches today.
The children may not grasp the symbolism of the Lord’s Supper; it is often hard for adults to comprehend. However, children will begin to learn that the bread and cup are special symbols in the church of a special meal we share. They begin to understand that meals, even our meals at home, can be special times of sharing and remembering Jesus and God’s love for us. Children should know that they can remember Jesus and their faith in other ways, even when they are away from church. This session will help the children understand why we have faith rituals, and that they can use their creativity to remember and keep their faith active anywhere they go.
Spiritual Practice for Adults
This week make or serve your favorite meal. Enjoy this meal with friends and family. As you share the meal, go around the table and invite each person to choose a way she or he can be a blessing to others.
