“Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” Mk. 9:50b
“Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest heaven! -Mark 11:9b-10 (nrsv)
Palm Sunday to Easter is a time of spiritual edginess. We are awakened to the gravity of God’s gifting, and long to be drug through the trough of sadness and grief. The Passion of Christ pushes a dichotomy of emotions; unworthy to most blessed. To mock and to be mocked. To scorn and to be scorned. To hold the hammer and to receive the nails. To crucify and to see death. To know shame and to beg forgiveness.
When you embrace another this week (with arms or with your heart) remember the journey of Holy Week, and imagine your love as God-size. How does it feel to try and love that big?
I am human and God is God. And Jesus gave all for my reception.
I am reminded, and I am thankful.
God, hold my heart in my longing to feel. Amen
