Consider
John Wesley, founder of the 18th century Methodism movement, taught Three Simple Rules.
The first “rule” is: Do no harm.
Notice it doesn’t say, “do nothing.”
70 percent of interaction is nonverbal. So, our facial expressions, our posture, body language and physical actions are very powerful.
Doing no harm is committing our presence–actions and silence–to encouraging, caring for, and loving all of God’s children and all of God’s creation.
Our presence includes our listening, how we choose to respond or react, our time alone and our digital presence (snapchat, tiktok, instagram, facebook, twitter, youtube, email, text…)
How can we honor God’s love for us as we become his hands and feet in the world?
Pray
God of gentleness, teach me your ways. May I be an instrument of love in action. Amen.
