2021 VISION

Children of God

Scripture:

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love.

-John 15:9 (nrsv)

Reflection of a Wise Voice:

Falling in love with God is the most important thing a person can do.

-John Eldredge

 Consider:

John Wesley, founder of the 18th century Methodism movement, taught Three Simple Rules.

The third “rule” is: By Attending Upon All the Ordinances of God. (For the first and second see posts from the past two weeks.)

What does that mean?!  In Three Simple Rules: A Wesleyan Way of Living, author Bishop Reuben P. Job rephrased the third rule as; “Stay in love with God.”    The third rule encourages us to nurture our relationship with God.  The means of grace, or ordinances, are practices that keep that relationship alive and growing:

The public worship of God

The ministry of the Word

The Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion)

Family and private prayer

Searching the Scriptures

Fasting or abstinence

God loves us first and loves us best, and we are invited to spend a lifetime falling in love with God.

Go ahead!  Fall in love!

Pray

God, you know and love me best.  Help me to love you back.  Amen.
