Hello Chapel Hill Families!
We are excited to celebrate all the DADS this Sunday, and will continue our study on Peace with the 23rd Psalm. I hope you will join us! We will not have sign-ups for 9:30 Sunday School during the Summer due to lower attendance. Come when you can! Nursery will be available at BOTH 9:30 and 11:00 services. No Sunday School at 11:00. We have clipboards outside the sanctuary available for kids attending worship.
As a reminder, kids will now attend their Sunday School classes according to their grade level for next year. Here are the room assignments for the summer:

We don’t have many extras of that particular version at the church and they will be looking up and reading scripture every time they come to church from now on.

Vacation Bible School 2021 “Discovery on Adventure Island”

Join us for “Discovery on Adventure Island” VBS at Chapel Hill! We are so excited to gather together for this event this year. Child spaces will be limited to 200 and we will make some other adjustments due to the pandemic, but it is sure to be another great year of FUN learning and worshipping together! We have purchased materials that can be easily used in an online format if numbers show that it is not wise to meet in person. Children of volunteers will be the first to register. If you would like to join our team, please click on the image below to sign-up!

Celebrate Wonder is a Sunday school curriculum that engages children’s natural sense of curiosity to help them understand God’s love. It creates a safe environment for kids to ask big questions — helping them explore the Bible in ways that feed their imagination and encourages creativity. Through carefully-selected Bible stories, songs, videos, and hands-on activities, Celebrate Wonder gives children the tools to explore their faith while incorporating it into their daily lives.

May Memory Verse

Bible Story Preview
Psalm 23 uses a metaphor in which God is represented as a shepherd and God’s followers as sheep. The psalm proclaims God as the Shepherd, who will provide for God’s people always. The passage says that the Shepherd keeps the sheep alive and guides the sheep on the proper path.
The words “darkest valley” in verse 4 are translated from a Hebrew word that is the combination of two shorter words meaning “shadow of death.” The term “shadow of death” is related to distress or darkness. Verse 4 also references God’s rod and staff as protection. A rod and staff are tools a shepherd used to protect sheep. The passage also emphasizes God’s constant presence, even during darkness and distress.
The setting of a table in verse 5 is a reference to hospitality and being a good host, as any good shepherd would be. The verse references enemies, but verse 6 refers to God’s goodness and faithful love. This, along with the table set in front of one’s enemies, is an indication that enemies are aloof when God is with you.
Peace is not directly spoken about in Psalm 23, but the passage was designed to bring peace to the reader. Generations of Christians have looked to this passage during difficult times as a reminder of God’s love and peaceful presence. Many people memorize Psalm 23 to provide comfort in their lives.

Spiritual Practice for Adults
Read Psalm 23 from different Bible translations. Then pick out one or two verses that feel most comforting to you. Write down those verses and keep them with you. When you are in need of peace and comfort, pull out the words to remind you of God’s comfort and peace.
