In the month of July, our new Faith Word is BELONGING. This Sunday we will learn about the story of “Peter’s Dream”(Acts 10:1-48)). Join us!
We will not have sign-ups for 9:30 Sunday School during the Summer due to lower attendance. Come when you can! Nursery will be available at BOTH 9:30 and 11:00 services. No Sunday School at 11:00. We have clipboards outside the sanctuary available for kids attending worship.
Kids will now attend their Sunday School classes according to their grade level for next year. Here are the room assignments for the summer:

Celebrate Wonder is a Sunday school curriculum that engages children’s natural sense of curiosity to help them understand God’s love. It creates a safe environment for kids to ask big questions — helping them explore the Bible in ways that feed their imagination and encourages creativity. Through carefully-selected Bible stories, songs, videos, and hands-on activities, Celebrate Wonder gives children the tools to explore their faith while incorporating it into their daily lives.
July Faith Word

Each month, our weekly stories will align with a Faith Word. The Faith Word for the month of July is, “Belong”.

Bible Story Preview
Today’s Bible story is about an important dream. We meet Cornelius, who is a Gentile, not a Jew. He worships God and lives the way God wants him to live. We also meet Peter, who is a Jew and strictly follows the custom of not eating animals that are considered unclean.
Cornelius is visited by an angel, who instructs him to send for Peter. The next day, Peter has a dream of unclean animals being lowered from heaven. He is told to eat the animals. Peter resists, because the animals are unclean. He is then told to go with the men who come to his home.
This story flips the idea of sharing God’s vision upside down. We often think we must go to places uninvited to witness for God. This story is about Cornelius, a Gentile, who does as God asks and sends for Peter. Cornelius assembles many people to hear what Peter has to say. As Peter speaks to the people, he realizes that the dream of eating unclean animals also means accepting and including other people, even Gentiles. Peter sees the transformation and baptizes the Gentiles into the family of God. Cornelius was the first person who wasn’t Jewish to become a Christian. Peter knew that all God’s people belong.

Spiritual Practice for Adults
Do you have a big dream of what the world might look like, or a small dream of something you want to be different or to change? Dreams are our way of hoping, but sometimes we lose hope when we do not see change. Our dreams come from and belong to God. God knows what our hearts long for, and God is there with each of us. This week, journal about your hopes and dreams. Then come up with a way you can work toward at least one of those dreams. Ask God for help, and know that God gives each of us amazing hopes and dreams.
