Hello Chapel Hill Families!
Last Sunday we got out a few of the Trunk or Treat games and kids had fun playing in the lobby before coming to Sunday school to watch “Prince of Egypt”. Next week, we will continue learning about Moses in our new unit on “TRUST”. Lessons this month include:
- November 7th – “In the Wilderness” (Exodus 15:22-17:7)
- November 14th – “The Ten Commandments” (Exodus 19:1-20:21)
- November 21st – “A House for God” (Exodus 25:1-31:18; 35:4-40:38)
- November 28th – “Elizabeth & Zechariah” (Luke 1:5-25) KIKWETE’S BIRTHDAY & ADVENT BEGINS
I am still in need of 2-3 volunteers for November 21st and 1-2 more volunteers for November 28th. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know!

Sunday, November 28th is Kikwete’s birthday! We sponsor Kikwete and his cousin, Neema, who live in the Angel House Orphanage in Tanzania, Africa. We have pledged to give $90/month in order to provide food, clothing and schooling to these children at Angel House. Each Sunday, kids have the opportunity to bring money to put into our offering for Neema and Kikwete. Would you help us meet our goal by sending your child with $1.00 each week? Our kids did such a good job remembering to bring their offering last month! Our former Director of Children’s Ministries, Raegan Brane, has visited Angel House in the past. You can find out more information about the Grassroots Organization and Angel House by clicking HERE.
REMINDER:
If you have a 3rd, 4th or 5th grader that has a Deep Blue Bible, please help them remember to bring it with them to Sunday school each week! We don’t have many extras of that particular version at the church and they will be looking up and reading scripture every time they come to church from now on.

Allison

Celebrate Wonder is a Sunday school curriculum that engages children’s natural sense of curiosity to help them understand God’s love. It creates a safe environment for kids to ask big questions — helping them explore the Bible in ways that feed their imagination and encourages creativity. Through carefully-selected Bible stories, songs, videos, and hands-on activities, Celebrate Wonder gives children the tools to explore their faith while incorporating it into their daily lives.
November Faith Word

Each month, our weekly stories will align with a Faith Word. The Faith Word for the month of November is, “Trust”.

Bible Story Preview
The Israelites were free and out of Egypt, but they were a long way from the land God promised. Instead, they found themselves in the wilderness. The soil was sandy, there was little vegetation, and water was scarce. Soon, the people were complaining. They began to doubt Moses and God.
The lack of food and water was real, but God was with them. God provided food by sending quail in the evening and manna in the morning. God cautioned the people to only take what food they needed for their family for that day and no more. Some people did not trust God and took more than they needed to save for later. When they went to eat the extra, they found it wormy and rancid.
Be sensitive to children who are food insecure. Humans have a tendency to believe in scarcity instead of God’s provision, just like the Israelites in today’s story. This has led some in our communities to keep more than they need, instead of ensuring everyone has what they need.
The spiritual practice for this unit is exploring trust through waiting. We are defining trust as believing God’s love is always with you. The Israelites didn’t know it, but they had many years and obstacles to overcome before they would arrive at the land God promised. They would have plenty of time to practice their waiting skills and learn to trust. Even when they doubted and complained, God was with them.

This week locate a finger labyrinth. As you enter the labyrinth with your finger, remember the many times you have trusted God to provide for you. Is it easy to always to trust God? As you use your finger to come out of the labyrinth, pray that you will always trust that what God provides is what you need.
