Hello Chapel Hill Families!
Hallelujah, Christ is Risen!!! I hope everyone had a very Happy Easter. If you missed the announcement on Wednesday, KIDS ARE COMING BACK TO SUNDAY SCHOOL STARTING MAY 2nd! At this time, we will only have Sunday School during the 9:30 service. NURSERY WILL BE AVAILABLE AT BOTH 9:30 & 11:00 SERVICES. If you couldn’t tell, I’m just a little excited to see everyone together again 🙂 If you plan on attending church in May, please make sure to make your reservation here.
The restrictions for our return to CH Kids Nursery & Sunday school include:
- Kids 3 and older will be required to wear a mask (Our preschool has taught us that 3 year olds CAN do this!)
- Kids will be asked to sanitize or wash hands upon entering their classrooms
- Parents will need to sign up their kids each week using this sign up genius link. (We are limiting the number of kids in each room for now.)
SUNDAY SCHOOL LEADERS NEEDED
I was so amazed at how many of our leaders are excited to come back and serve CH Kids. If you would like to assist in helping out during the Sunday school hour, please let me know! Many leaders sign up for one Sunday each month, while others enjoy serving every week. We also appreciate people who are willing to step in as a substitute when needed. We can work with your schedule month to month, and appreciate any time you can give.
- No experience is necessary.
- Lessons and materials are planned and prepared for you ahead of time. Just show up before the kids to review and you are good to go!
- Celebrate Wonder also includes scripted lessons if you are not confident in leading a lesson on your own.
- All leaders 16 years old and up are required to go through Safe Gatherings Training and Certification before working with kids.
- There are ALWAYS two teachers per class so you are NEVER alone with kids.
- …and it is so much FUN!
MAY SUNDAY SCHOOL KITS
Since we will be back together in-person for Sunday school, I am NOT planning on continuing the monthly Sunday School kits for those who have signed up for them. I WILL continue to attach the materials to this e-mail each week if you are unable to attend in person that Sunday. If you would like to continue receiving monthly kits mailed to you, please contact Abigail Deiter at adeiter@chwichita.org and we can continue to get them to you. We realize not all people are comfortable returning to worship in person, and would like to be as accommodating as possible.
This month’s lessons include:
- April 11 – “The Great Commission” (Matthew 28:16-20)
- April 18 – “Peter and John” (Acts 3:1-10)
- April 25 – “Believers Share” (Acts 4:32-37)
If your child would like to be featured in one of these videos, please let me know! I can be flexible with days and times so let me know what works best for your family.
I always love seeing the kids participating in Sunday School activities! If you take any pictures or videos of your children worshipping or doing the crafts, please share them with our Facebook group, or e-mail them to me at aroth@chwichita.org.

Vacation Bible School 2021 “Discovery on Adventure Island”

Join us for “Discovery on Adventure Island” VBS at Chapel Hill! We are so excited to gather together for this event this year. Child spaces will be limited to 200 and we will make some other adjustments due to the pandemic, but it is sure to be another great year of FUN learning and worshipping together! We have purchased materials that can be easily used in an online format if numbers show that it is not wise to meet in person. Children of volunteers will be the first to register. If you would like to join our team, please click on the image below to sign-up!

Celebrate Wonder is a Sunday school curriculum that engages children’s natural sense of curiosity to help them understand God’s love. It creates a safe environment for kids to ask big questions — helping them explore the Bible in ways that feed their imagination and encourages creativity. Through carefully-selected Bible stories, songs, videos, and hands-on activities, Celebrate Wonder gives children the tools to explore their faith while incorporating it into their daily lives.
April Faith Word

Each month, our weekly stories will align with a Faith Word. The Faith Word for the month of April is, “Share”.

Bible Story Preview
This week we’re learning about the Great Commission or Jesus’ ongoing ministry through his followers. A commission is a call to something God wants you to do. God commissions all of us to share Jesus with the whole world. We do this in many ways, such as ministry and showing kindness, love, and respect. We are called to go and baptize, teach, and serve others. These were central actions in Jesus’ ministry.
In the story, Jesus commissions his disciples with the task of forming a community of believers. This community is to embody Jesus’ presence in the world to strengthen and guide God’s children. However, some of the disciples express doubt. They are still having trouble grasping the mystery of the Resurrection. While some worship Jesus immediately, others have questions. There are many times in the Gospels when the disciples express doubt or disbelief, even though they are devoted to Jesus. So, it is natural that we, Jesus’ modern disciples, also experience some doubt. Just like the disciples before us, we have to accept a little mystery with our faith. Like them, we must accept that there are some answers we don’t have and some things that can’t be explained. Jesus knows this is a lot for the disciples to take in, and he promises to be with them always as they spread the gospel.
Just as Jesus was with the disciples in their ministry then, Jesus continues to be with all of us as we seek to build the community of believers today. You’ll want your children to know that they are commissioned too. Most of all, you’ll want them to know that, like the disciples in the Bible, Jesus is with them.
Spiritual Practice for Adults
This week reflect on your commission. Is there something specific that you feel God is calling you to do in ministry? Even if you aren’t ready to answer that call yet, take some time to think about it. Then journal about it. If you are ready to move forward, write out a plan for answering your call. Do you need to take a class? talk to someone at your church? What can you begin to do to prepare to answer your call?
